Alan L. Mazer, D.M.D.
Dr. Mazer is a native New Yorker, growing up in Merrick and living in Stony Brook for the past 33 years. He graduated from Lehigh University and received his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1972. He did a two year residency in General Dentistry while stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Dr. Mazer is an attending doctor in St. Charles Hospital’s Residency program and Bellhaven Nursing Home. He has been practicing in Port Jefferson Station for over 35 years.
Extensively involved with organized dentistry, Dr. Mazer was president of the Suffolk County Dental Society, former Governor of the NY State Dental Association, and a former Delegate to the American Dental Association. Presently he is Chairman of the New York State Dental Association’s Council on Governmental Affairs. He is also a Fellow of the Pierre Fauchard Academy, the International College of Dentists and the American College of Dentists. He has dedicated his career to caring for and educating his patients about the importance of good dental health.
Dr Mazer has been married for 42 years to his high school sweetheart.
Debra Rubin, R.D.H.
Debbie received her Associates degree in Applied Sciences from New York Technical College and then continued her education and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Stony Brook University. She has been practicing dental hygiene since 1985 and has been working with Dr. Mazer since 2003. As a dental hygienist, she seeks new and innovative methods to continually provide optimal oral health for her patients. She believes that making the patient feel comfortable in the dental chair is of utmost importance.
Paula Kass: R.D.H.
Paula is a welcome addition to our hygiene staff. She began her dental career as a dental assistant but decided to pursue an Associate in Science/Dental Hygiene degree from Farmingdale State University. She is continuing her education and plans to receive her Bachelor of Arts degree in Hygiene. Her main focus as a hygienist is to educate her patients so that they can be active participants in their own oral health care. She enjoys building relationships with her patients as well as working to eliminate some of the fears that patients may have.
Paula is married, has two children and two dogs, a lab mix and a Maltese. She enjoys hiking, biking, cooking with her husband and spending time with her children.
Esmeralda Bonilla, R.D.H.
We welcome our new Saturday hygienist, Esmeralda. She graduated from Farmingdale State University with an Associate in Science/Dental Hygiene degree. She enjoys meeting patients and making them feel comfortable in the dental chair and prides herself in providing gentle oral care.
Esmeralda is married and has three children and a dog named Conan. She is fluent in Spanish, enjoys learning about diverse cultures, spending time with family and friends, cooking and listening to music.
Rhonda Frasca, Scheduling Coordinator
When calling or visiting our office, you probably will be greeted by a friendly hello from Rhonda, our scheduling coordinator. Rhonda has extensive dental front desk experience and will be able to answer many of your scheduling and insurance questions. She enjoys interacting with patients and is a true believer that consistent hygiene visits are a must for excellent dental health. She is married, has three children, two dogs, is an avid camper and loves spending time with her family.
Pat Curtin, Dental Assistant
Pat has been a dental assistant for 26 years and has been working in our office for the past 81/2 years. She graduated from the Westchester School for Para-Professional Training.
Originally living in the Bronx, she moved to Rocky Point in 1990. She is married to Tom, has two children, enjoys the beach, skiing, exercising and is an avid dog lover.
Tej Vaidya: Dental Assistant
When you come for your appointment, you will be meeting Tej, our smiling Stony Brook University dental student. He is eager to assist Dr. Mazer and observe the various techniques that he will eventually be performing when he graduates. Tej grew up in East Meadow, enjoys spending quality time with friends, reading mystery novels, playing basketball and volunteering.
Lois Mazer: Practice Administrator
With a background in education, community outreach, public relations and college advancement, Lois brings a variety of skills to her task as practice administrator. Overseeing the business end of our dental practice offers a great opportunity for her to utilize her excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Lois' married children Jason to Jodi and Carrie to David are the joys of her life besides her two adorable grandsons Robert and Daniel, her beautiful granddaughters Gabrielle and Alexis and her wonderful husband of 42 years.
